I've always wanted to work in an old-fashioned diner… to flip eggs while wearing a little white paper hat and call people "doll." I'm sure it's not as glamorous as I imagine it to be (I mean, I've worked in the service industry before, it can be a bummer). But I'd love to have a motley crew of regulars whose orders I know. There's something so nostalgic and communal about a diner. It's a meeting place, a safe space, a shelter from the storm. Especially if they're open 24/7. Diners are one of the most classically American spaces that we have.
I think where I would really like to work is Pops Chocklit Shoppe from Riverdale. It's the quintessential diner and their milkshakes always look so delicious. On the other hand, there are always outlandish crimes happening there, so maybe it's best that I keep my current job.
