How a parent disciplines their child is unique to each family, and you must respect that. A child has to learn what is kind and what is unkind, and what is socially acceptable and not—that is the importance of discipline.

Nobody likes unsolicited parenting advice, even if you're not a parent. Nobody likes being told what to do with their child (and nobody likes when someone who isn't your therapist starts blaming your parents for how they raised you). But let's be honest, sometimes a parent is so clueless, that they need to be hit with some serious knowledge immediately.
Take for example Nora and her 4-year-old Jack from this Reddit post by Admirable-Cold-8875. Jack was notorious for being a naughty kid, everyone in the friend group knew. Still, Nora brought her kid to a friend's house for a little get-together they were having and, of course, Jack acted up. He pretended like he wanted to take a nap, but instead, snuck into the host's bedroom and took the wife's wedding ring from her bedstand (she's a nurse and doesn't like to wear it at work). When the host asked the mother to please retrieve her wife's wedding ring, the mom said “he'll get bored of it eventually” and didn't do anything. So, instead, Jack threw the ring out of the window. Rightfully, the host got upset and let the mom know it, and yet the friend group shunned her for getting upset. But the internet agrees that this kid was lacking serious discipline.
