Some memes are more sophisticated than others. It might depend on an inside joke on the internet, or actual knowledge that whoever is reading the meme should know, but some jokes have an extra layer to them that just makes them better.
That is what I feel towards everything that is going on on Tumblr. The people who post there have a level of creativity and wittiness that I personally connect to and appreciate even more than the ordinary meme. I love the wordplay and all the little inside jokes that the people of Tumblr have, and I believe it is no coincidence that Tumblr is one of the pioneers of meme culture as an internet phenomenon.
