These bosses picked the exact wrong employee to mess with.
Some companies think so highly of themselves that they forget to show appreciation to the employees who make the magic happen. We all know that in today's day and age, the best way to grow your salary and gain extra PTO is by job hopping (aka moving companies every couple years). But it wasn't always like that. Just ask Jimmy, an older employee at a company who stayed at the same job for more than four decades! That's real loyalty there.
There's value in having an employee who's been at the company long enough to know its history and why certain decisions were made. And in Jimmy's case, he was the only person with knowledge of how a particular product was created.
Unfortunately, this company got sold to a big corporation, and the new management "immediately goes after many of the great benefits we had." You can really tell which corporations value only money, and which ones realize that having skilled employees is just as valuable. The new company clearly just cared about saving as much money as possible. Happy employees? Who needs 'em?
