There's a famous Seinfeld bit about rental cars that goes something like this. Jerry reserves a rental car, shows up at the rental car facility, and surprise, they don't have a car for him. If you or a loved one has ever tried to rent a car, you've probably experienced this. But Jerry does what we wish we could do which is have the perfect hilarious exchange with the worker, that ends with Jerry saying "See, you know how to take the reservation, you just don't know how to hold the reservation. And that's really the most important part of the reservation: 'The holding.' Anyone can just take them."
Alas, the most important part: the keeping of the reservation. This exchange happens to perfectly apply to this recent work story from Reddit, where an employee's time off request was treated just like a rental car. Seinfeld would have words with this boss.
