How far would you go to help your cat? How much risk would you be willing to take to save your cat's life if it was at risk? Would you be willing to get into a high speed chase with police officers, then get tased, arrested and fined for it? Because Timothy Butler was willing to do it all. We, here at ICanHas, hear about all kinds of sweet cat rescue stories all the time, but we have never come across a story like this one.
According to Crazed, Butler was driving through Minnesota at 85 miles per hour when the cops spotted him and the chase started. And it was one heck of a chase, with the cops attempting everything they could to stop Butler, but nothing did. Eventually, he pulled into the parking lot in front of the vet's office, with Mr. Fluffles in a crate in his hand.
The cops shouted at Butler the moment he got out of the car, but he did not care, so they tased him - right before he got to the door. Still, despite being on the ground, Butler's highest priority was saving his cat, and he begged the officers around him, explaining that he had a cat emergency. He apologized and explained that his 18-year-old cat was having spasms and that his mind was "clouded by his urgent need to get his cat to the vet."

Thankfully, the story has a happy ending. In the middle of all the commotion, Mr. Fluffles was grabbed by one of the vet office workers and taken inside, where he was successfully treated for his spasms. And Butler… "originally faced reckless driving charges, but the judge considered the emergency and the fact that the man had no previous criminal history. When all was said and done, he was made to pay a $375 fine in addition to covering his vehicle's damages." Which we think is fair. His driving was dangerous, but thankfully, no one got hurt, and honestly… we probably would have done the same thing for our cat.
Video transcript: "Butler exited the vehicle with a crate, ignoring the officers' commands to stop. He verbally confronted the officer, proceeded toward the front door. The officer tased Butler, who continued moving towards the door, expressing his urgency to get his cat to the vet. A vet employee took the cat from Butler, and he was subsequently arrested."
Continuation: "During the arrest, Butler explained that he had no choice but to reach the location because the previous place was closed. He apologized, stating that he would have stopped if possible, emphasizing it was a cat emergency. the pursuit lasted approximately 1 mile. After being read his Miranda rights, Butler provided a statement."
Continuation: "He explained that his 18-year-old cat was experiencing convulsions, causing him to panic, attempting to reach a vet in Golden valley. Butler drove at about 85 miles per hour. He noticed the police officer squad car with activated emergency lights behind him but continued driving due to the urgent need to get his cat to the vet. In the midst of traffic, he began to panic."
