We're always a fan of adopting over shopping for doggos, but you never really know what you're going to get when you adopt. Your doggo may have had a difficult past, making them hard to train. Most rescue dogs are mutts, which although they have fewer health issues in general, it's hard to understand what their personality will be like due to the mixture of breeds. One family went looking for a pair of puppies to adopt and found two "Chihuahua" sisters, both only 4-5 lbs, and took them home. Little did they know, they weren't Chihuahuas at all!
One year and two 60 lb. dogs later, they realized that there was no way these big girls were even closely related to Chihuahuas! They did a DNA test and found out that the sisters are Dutch Shepherd and Staffordshire split evenly, which are medium-large dogs. The family loves them all the same, it's just not the adoption story they were expecting!

To be fair, this does kind of look like a Chihuahua puppy. The coloring is unique for a Chihuahua, but maybe that's why the family chose them, because they were special. Turns out that they were very special, but not for that reason at all!
Well, that's the biggest and stripiest Chihuahua we've ever seen! You never know what you're going to get when you adopt, and it turns out that these smol girls grew up into gorgeous, medium-large beauties.
