It never gets easier. Heartache that is. Whether you were the one that ended things or the reverse, it's never an easy time going through a breakup. You have countless memories and inside jokes that no one will understand but the two of you. It may be hard to accept, but there was a reason things didn't work out long term. Whatever your differences are, stop focusing on what you could have done to alter the outcome.
Talking to friends during a breakup can be a much needed outlet. A support system can ground you, lift you up, and ultimately take your mind off everything else going on in your life. I wish I could say breakups get easier the older you get or the more of them that you've been through, but that simply is not the case. Figure out your relationship goals and make them a priority moving forward.
Exes are more than capable of slipping back into a relationship because it's comfortable and familiar, but it also prevents you from making progress in what you really want.
