We all know the story of Cinderella and her wicked stepmother (and step-sisters). It was heart-wrenching to see such a wholesome girl be cast aside by someone who was, at least supposed to be her mother figure. But, that was just a fairytale and, of course, it has a happy ending. That being said, fairytales have some aspects of real life in them…
This wicked stepmother is all too real for Reddit user Character_Address53. When she was younger, she attempted to get along with her, but it always ended up in an argument. This stepmother was way too strict and Character_Address53 was never enough for her. So, by the time she was a teenager, they had butted heads enough that the stepmother decided to ignore her. She stopped talking to her and even made her buy her own grocery necessities like bread and butter because she didn't want to share her with her unwanted stepdaughter.
Character_Address53 has accepted it and moved on with her life. She's let go of the idea of having a father who takes her side and leans more on the love and support of her bio mom. Now, she is engaged and excited to start her own life full of love! Lo and behold, the wicked stepmother comes out of nowhere and starts talking to her like the past 11 years never happened. She starts saying she wants to do all these duties, like wedding dress shopping, speeches, etc., for her at her wedding, all the things the mother of the bride is supposed to do.
Of course, Character_Address53 is very confused by this and simply ignores her, just like how she was ignored as a kid by her. When her father asks why, she tells him the truth, that she was weirded out and in no way was this wicked woman going to be a part of the wedding party. She said that her dad is welcome to bring her as a +1, but she does not consider her family in the slightest.
Well, you better believe that stirred up some drama on her dad and stepmother's side and now she's unsure if she should just let it go. The internet tells her to stay strong!
