There are several things that are universal deal-breakers in the dating world. If you're mean to animals or you don't brush your teeth those are a deal breaker. If you're 40, unemployed, and live in your parents' basement that probably makes you undatable in many people's eyes as well.
But there are things far worse than being unemployed. When it comes to work, that's how a person spends 40 hours of their week- it can say a lot about a person and a potential romantic partner. If someone's a lawyer, you know they're tenacious and you'll never win an argument against them. If someone's a politician, you might second guess their motives for everything, but at least they're likable. And if someone is a preschool teacher, you know they'll be patient, jolly, and good with kids.
