These job candidates really needed a job, but they weren't desperate enough to stay at interviews that were totally wrong for them. Sometimes you can just tell right away that the job isn't going to be the right fit for you. Most of us would just stick out the interview and call it a loss after the fact. But these folks just walked right out, saving themselves both time and dignity.
A major red flag during most job interviews is the ratio of how much you're allowed to talk, compared with how much the hiring manager talks. It's one thing if the hiring manager explains a bit about the position, and then spends a half hour asking you about your experience. But it's a whole other issue if the HR person gives a lot of caveats about the work, or seems like they're trying to prepare you to deal with the company's shenanigans. Plus, if they're spending so much time trying to convince you to work there, that might mean they just need a warm body to be in that role. It makes the candidate feel like their qualifications don't even matter.
