This might be an unpopular opinion, but I don't think 16-year-olds should be permitted to drive yet, and I definitely don't think their parents should buy them a car when they first pass their driver's test. Driving is a huge responsibility, and when people are driving, they are not only responsible for their own lives, but they are responsible for the lives of the other people in the car, other people driving around them and the pedestrians along the way. So a 16-year-old driving with their friends late at night? No, thank you. Either take the bus or get an Uber.
Some full-grown adults are no better than those teenagers. Like OP's girlfriend in this Reddit story. The girlfriend was driving OP's car when a speed camera caught her speeding and sent the ticket to OP. Now, if OP confesses that he was not actually the one driving the car, his girlfriend would get her license suspended, since it is not her first offense. But OP doesn't want to take the blame, and that causes a lot of tension between them.
