Living with roommates can be tough, even more so when one of the people living there also happens to own the home. They're more than likely to be less tolerant and more particular about having things a certain way and when they want it—even though they're the ones who decided to have roommates for the additional income in the first place. Still, to an extent, it's understandable; nothing in this life is free or comes easy; there's a lot of cost involved when it comes to owning a home. First and foremost, there's a mortgage that needs to be serviced to keep the bank from reclaiming the place; then, there's property tax to be paid, along with any number of costly repairs, insurance, and other bills.
So, then, if your roommate were to purchase the home the pair of you were living in, it would be outrageous to expect that you could live there for free. Except, that's inexplicably what this roommate expected when she excitedly announced that she couldn't wait to not have to pay rent anymore. It's hard to know what she was thinking since even your own spouse or partner would be expected to contribute to the cost of owning a home if they moved in to cohabitate for the first time…
