If you are a new mother who has given birth in the past year, then you are going to want to read this. Most of the time the internet is a dumpster fire that we can't look away from. But every now and then, it can actually be wholesome and helpful. Take, for instance, the women who came to the aid of this new mother in need.
This mother just had a baby girl who she adores. She also used to adore her husband of 12 years, but all of a sudden she says she “feels nothing” for him. She hastily told him she wanted a divorce, but being postpartum, she is struggling to handle all the emotions she is having with her situation. She felt passionately about her decision, but now she feels regret. She is torn and doesn't know what to do.
Mothers who have been through postpartum and PPD advise her to not be so hasty and to not let go of that marriage just yet. They share their own stories of relationship struggles during their postpartum and bouts of PPD. “Life is hard and kids are hard,” says one poster. “You're being an absolute fool and you need a good support system of women to tell you that,” says another.
She said she didn't feel like she had PPD, that she simply didn't feel anything. But she edits her post after the comments started flooding in thanking everyone for their advice and that she realized she most likely does have PPD. Where will her relationship go in the future? We don't know. But, due to these helpful mothers on the internet, she is now better informed to go forth with whatever choices she makes.
