As far as personality theories go, introversion and extroversion have been discussed since Carl Jung popularized the theories. Since then, people have developed the terms as buzzwords to describe their social energy levels. In general, introverts need more alone time, and extroverts need more time socializing with others. In this day and age, being introverted is becoming more and more accepted and normalized. Maybe it's because we all have our phones to keep us company…just kidding. But it's definitely a good thing not to feel social pressure.
How does that affect relationships? What if you're an introvert, but you're dating an extrovert? What about the other way around? They say opposites attract, and maybe in this case it's true. A healthy balance of energy in the relationship couldn't hurt. Look at it this way, when your social battery is empty, let him step up and take the reins. We love and appreciate when our partners give us the space to be our introverted selves.
