The feeling of ordering a meal and then disliking it is so awkward. It happens to the best of us. Maybe you decide to try a new soup, only to realize it tastes like seawater and sadness. Or maybe you confidently order a dish you've had numerous times, only to realize this establishment makes the meal with ingredients you don't care for. Or maybe your friends force you to try sushi, and you don't like a single one of those ingredients. But you have to save face in front of your dinner guests. Do you try and choke it down, or do you send it back and request something else? It's a conundrum, especially if you're a people-pleaser who doesn't want to bother the nice waiters.
Most of the time, however, you're just ordering a normal meal for 10 or 15 dollars. These people in u/Careful-Confidence88's story ordered a very pricey dinner, and apparently had done no prior research. It reminds me of those steak restaurants that charge $$$ to serve you a gold leaf covered steak. People will pay an outrageous amount of money to try a steak that they might not even like. (Does gold leaf taste good? Does it have any taste at all, or just texture? Someone please report back on this if you ever try it.) Maybe these clueless customers are so thrilled to be spending their big bucks that they barely think about what they're actually receiving.
