'This is going to cost you': Small photographer stands up to big corporation with a massive lawsuit after they used his photos without paying

Can someone explain to me why big corporations think it's okay to take advantage of 'the little guy'?

This small photographer did a commercial job for a big company that was a pretty big deal for his career. The problem was, that they only paid him a third of the amount up front. When he tried to contact them about the rest, they completely ghosted him and then continued to use the pictures beyond their licensing agreement. Now, I can sort of understand when small companies need more time to pay and can struggle a bit, but I have no sympathy for big corporate companies that simply bully small business owners for no apparent reason.

I don't know if I should call it a good thing, but this photographer was no stranger to those who try and take advantage of his work, so he didn't hesitate to contact his lawyer and get ready to sue them for $150k per image used. Safe to say they did not continue to ghost him after receiving that information from his lawyer.
