One boss shared what she probably thought was an encouraging tale of… making her employees work all day on Christmas Eve.
I know what you're thinking: what could possibly be positive about making your employees work the whole day just before a major holiday? Many people depend on that day to travel to their family's houses, hop on a flight, or just need time to wrap up some last-minute gifts. And I know, I know, the employees are getting paid to work a full day… but it's just a nicety that would make workers feel seen and appreciated.
This boss wrote out the braggadocious post below, in which she describes letting her employees take half days on Christmas Eve most years. But then one employee had the audacity to simply ask their boss what time they'd be working until that day. That triggered the boss into making her staffers work until 5 PM, instead of 12 PM. Not only did this boss think that was an appropriate way to lead her team, she then turned it into a pseudo-inspirational LinkedIn post. And Twitter user @AKBrews captured the screenshot of her post--- before it was removed in under 24 hours. But @AKBrews tweet has been seen 977k+ times, so it's not exactly gone forever.

The boss did make another post on her LinkedIn page explaining that she regrets the incident, but she also didn't overtly apologize for it. Just imagine how her employees must feel reading her original post…
Screenshots last forever though, and I wouldn't be surprised if this shocking story of a boss acting tone-deaf starts circulating each holiday season. If the boss thought this post was so great that she wanted it to be shared, she got what she wanted, as the post has generated hundreds of LinkedIn and Twitter comments.
