One newspaper editor shared a very funny story that occurred at their workplace. It's one of those times where someone wanted to procure a service… but then he declared that he knew how to be a better copyeditor than the literal editors at the paper.
This kind of schadenfreude is so satisfying to witness, especially in a career like writing, which is often underappreciated. Lots of people think that writing is easy or fast, and that makes them think anyone can do it. Not everyone can write well, though. Many people go through years of schooling, internships, and low-level jobs before achieving success as a writer or editor. Yet some folks still think that they know more about writing than someone who's done it for 8,000 hours and holds a degree.
Plus, why would you seek out a professional, only to reprimand them for doing a poor job? Just find someone else to help you out if you don't think that company does a good job.

Some customers will come into a business and accuse them of doing a terrible job… and then request their services. This has never made sense to me. But perhaps this type of person thinks that the company will work harder after hearing that they'd been unhappy with the work in the past. Unfortunately for them, that's just not how the world works.
