There are certain moments in a family's history that people will never let go of no matter how hard you try. It's that bizarre thing that happens when members of a family construct a strange revisionist narrative of the event that, of course, paints themselves in a great light and another member of the family in a bad one.
That's exactly what happened to this Redditor, who shared their story via this thread on Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole subreddit. When she was 11 years old, she was grieving the loss of her mother when her Dad decided to keep his wedding to her Karen Stepmom scheduled a mere week and a half later. They never let go of the fact that OP opted out of the event and continued to tease her about it for the next decade. Finally, OP confronted them in front of other family members after they had enough of this ridiculous narrative that OP had come to regret her decision not to go to the wedding. She rightly reminded Karen and Kevin (yes, he is at fault here too) that she had absolutely no regrets for skipping the wedding during such a tough period in her childhood. Hopefully, the public setting of the confrontation was embarrassing enough for Karen and Kevin to realize they were in the wrong here.
