Coming to help in on your day off is like doing an angel's work, and bosses should be appreciative and not take it for granted. But upper management always finds a reason to complain, and they often feel entitled to employees' time, even when they aren't supposed to be working.
This employee named Steve was probably a little too good at his job, and despite not being paid enough, he put all his effort into making the workplace better, even going as far as to come to help out in on his day off. Once his employer set his eyes on him, he did not want to let him go, so when Steve had finished a couple of hours of his 'community work', and was ready to go home, his boss told him, 'No'.
To which Steve replied, respectfully, 'No' right back. I find it weird that employers think they control us outside of work hours, but I have never been in a place to tell anyone what to do, so maybe it's just me. In any case, Steve's boss immediately wrote him up, but he did not anticipate Steve's reaction, which was to quit. 'Not so fast', said his boss… Scroll down to read the rest.
