'No problem': Belligerent customer insists on being refunded for their own mistake

The thing about making a mistake is that you kind of have to just own it. At this point, you're already suffering whatever negative effects and embarrassment have resulted from that mistake, and then you have to be able to rub salt in that wound and accept that you have no one to blame but yourself. It's no surprise that a lot of times, people seem to be completely unable to consciously or subconsciously accept that their mistake is their own fault. Instead, they come up with some way to explain why the mistake really isn't that bad, didn't happen, or—if all else fails—blame someone or something else.

This can create some interesting scenarios, especially when you work in customer service, where it's not uncommon to end up having to explain to someone that whatever your company sold them isn't covered for replacement or repair because they weren't using it correctly.
