Never count on your boss to give you the emotional support that you need. However, when that meeting finally happened, OP was disappointed to see that the boss did not seem to care one way or another. She didn't ask why the employee wanted to leave. She didn't have any questions for them. She just kept things clinical and curt.
OP decided to stay for two more weeks until the problematic manager started to treat them like garbage again. At that point, OP decided that this day would be their last, which is what ultimately triggered their boss to suddenly step in and show her true colors. She called and expressed her disappointment in OP for leaving even if part of the reason was due to their mental health. It was a tone-deaf and emotionally upsetting phone call that motivated OP to send an extensive email outlining all of their boss and manager's wrongdoings.
