There are so many cats out there in shelters and adoption centers who are just- waiting, with bated breath, to find their forever homes. So many cats that have been in those shelters for months, if not years. We're talking about senior cats, and we're talking about black cats, and we're talking about sick cats and rehomed cats - all the cats that are considered "impurrfect". People tend to go for healthy kittens, and although we understand that, we can't help the little ache in our hearts over those "unadoptable" cats that are waiting.
So, when we do come across a story about an "unadoptable" cat finally getting adopted, we are somehow twice as happy. And that's exactly the case in this story. After being neglected by his previous owner, this sweet kitty got a second chance at life with an owner who absolutely fell in love with him.

"I adopted 14 year old Pouncer after his human mother died. Sadly, he was very neglected and needed shaved upon adoption to remove fecal matter from all over his fur. This is his one year progress from the day he was rescued!"
"Pouncer was meant to be a foster cat. I foster senior cats specifically because it can take a little longer to find them good homes."
"However my boy Pouncer suffers from pancreatitis and sometimes poos outside of his litter box because he doesn't make it inside in time. Kinda like a kid with diarrhea! He needed completely shaved when I got him. His mom had let him become morbidly obese (she was sick too) and he completely stopped grooming. Even his butt. His bum was infected from all of the fecal matter and his soft poops had gotten into his fur. He was covered in dry poop stuck in his fur."
"(He sees doctors for full blood work and wellness checks every 3 months due to his age. He's on medications and a special diet. His pooping is a symptom but also just the result of his health issues. He doesn't mean to do it at all!)"
"Pouncer has also stopped grooming anywhere but his bumhole in his old age, but truly I'm grateful he cleans that! He needs groomed in a way other cats do not need. Making sure his little paws and ears are clean."
"His health issues make him pretty un-adoptable. It's the cold hard truth and that's why I chose to keep him forever."
"He's such a sweet boy and has flourished so much. He spent 13 years as the only cat of a single older woman and now at 15 years old he lives with 4 other cats! I think they provided so much enrichment to his life. He also has his own room all to himself when he wants to escape that the other cats never really go into, it's his private space. Old boy needs his naps. He also is such a snuggle boy! He jumped right back into loving even after all he's been through. He loved and trusted me without skipping a beat!"
"Thank you all for letting me share Pouncer's story with you!"
