It seems like the OP's boss managed to seem normal throughout the interview process, but the OP quickly realized it was a just a ruse. By the very next day, the OP found out that the entire workplace despised their boss, John. That's never a good sign — when other workers try to warn you not to work somewhere on your very first day, the red flags could not be any more apparent. 

The OP probably felt even more pressure to stay since their dad was the reason they got it. Plus, as they mentioned in their story, they wanted to give John a fair shot to prove himself.
