'Do I go AWOL and [...] just ghost the company?': Employee considers ghosting his boss after temporary relocation appears to be permanent

The lengths that employers go to get what they want are baffling these days. Not only has it become completely normalized for employers to be shady, but also they're just straight-up lying at this point. It's. hard to defend the behavior of a company that relocates an employee for a "few weeks" while framing it like a business trip, when in reality it becomes quite clear that this is a permanent relocation and the employee wasn't given the luxury of full transparency. To that point, one has to wonder: since when did full transparency from your boss become a luxury? Should it not be a given? If the employee is expected to be fully transparent with their boss, shouldn't they receive the same behavior? 

This thread was posted to Reddit by u/FlamingoMedium7410, who learned that the hotel key they were given for their so-called "business trip" was actually the key to an apartment. The audacity of his boss to not explain this fact beforehand is what really got folks in the comments upset. Some people did mention that perhaps there is more to the story and the employee should await to hear more information. For instance, maybe the company invested in this apartment since multiple employees could use it on business trips. That being said, based on the employee's clear frustration in their original post, we are inclined to believe that their ire is warranted and that this company is up to no good.
