When I worked at a huge retail clothing company as a teenager, lord knows there were karens, and thankfully I was lucky enough to have a manager who had my back. Whenever a karen was rude to me for simply doing my job and enforcing a store policy, my manager would stand their ground and back me up every time. Not only is it the right thing to do, it feels validating for the retail worker, who is stuck in an otherwise powerless position.
Redditor u/moshthepoundsaway isn't so lucky. They've got the spineless type of manager who will break the rules enforced by low-level employees just to appease rude karens, making the worker look terrible in the process. Eventually, OP had enough of being the bad guy and took some sweet, petty revenge.
OP's manager didn't have their back, but at least the comment section did.

“I don’t think it’s a power trip. I think they just would rather fold than fight with these people. A normal person when the sales person tells them it’s no longer valid Just says ok. Only the rude irrational people fight back and honestly if the manager is a non confrontational person they probably just say it’s not worth the fight and give them the deal. I once had a boss say I don’t pick people to be managers just so they can enforce rules. Rules can be wrong and situations aren’t always black and white. I pick people to be managers because I trust their judgement.” said u/No-Fee8636.
