If a boss says that the real problem is your inability to budget well, that's perhaps the biggest red flag of all. And we have come across countless work-related red flags here at FAIL Blog. We have seen bosses oversharing details about their personal lives; we have seen recruiters refusing to give proper details about salaries and benefits, and we have seen tons of Karens from HR. However, shaming an employee for the low hourly wage that you have given them is beyond inappropriate.
This thread was posted to Reddit by u/Jacq1987, a grocery store employee who makes $12.50 an hour. When she shared how difficult life as a single mom is on this salary, her boss messaged her and told her to take down the post immediately. Of course, there was no consideration of giving her a raise or even just expressing sympathy for her situation. Her boss was simply enraged at the disclosure of her horrible salary, which as we all know is her boss's own fault.
So, when her boss threatened to fire the Redditor if she did not take down the social media post, the Redditor stood her ground and decided she had enough of this nonsense. The crazy thing is that once again, the response her boss gave was nothing short of insulting. She simply said, "You can at least train your replacement." I'm sorry, go train her yourself! That is, if you're able to find someone who is willing to work for that insane hourly wage.
