There's nothing more annoying than when selfish folks make it seem like they're upset because of a greater principle when in reality, they were just being their selfish selves. This is a common trend that we have been seeing in our culture today, particularly among the Karens of the world. It would almost be better for Karens to just be transparent about how selfish they are acting. I would have slightly more respect for that kind of unapologetic entitlement. However, to instead frame things in such a way that appears to be for the benefit of some greater principle or righteous cause reeks of the worst breed of inauthenticity.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/F***YouKaren subreddit and serves as yet another great example of this unfortunate trend. Here we have a Karen who came up to a guest performer after a school assembly, taking issue with the fact that the number of volunteers for the assembly appeared to skew male. The performer explained that they make a point to spread things out evenly across their school tours and that there is an odd number of volunteers needed. Therefore, every other school performance will skew in one direction. Karen kept trying to complain but eventually could not compete with the Redditor's measured responses. Eventually, it became crystal clear what the real issue was here, which was that Karen was bitter that her two daughters were not selected to take part in the assembly. In fact, this suspicion was only later confirmed by an administrator at the school. What a shocking revelation that was.
