'Tell the chef to make this for me like he [hates] me': Customer asks for extreme spice, lives to regret it

Everyone knows that person who treats their tolerance for spice like it's a personality trait.

I used to work with a friend who was practically immune to spice and would always throw out taunting requests like this to wait-staff, insinuating that there was no way their chef could placate his lust for the fieriest of infernos. We had a Thai place near the office that we would frequent for lunch, the pair of us would always order the same dish (pad thai), and my friend would submit his usual request for a 5-star-level spice. This request must have been submitted to the chef one too many times, for on this day, he decided to season the dish with fire and brimstone, freshly sourced from the fires of hell itself. 

When the meals emerged, you couldn't even sit next to it; its presence on the table was enough to make your eyes water, prepared for the suffering to come. Unfortunately, my dish had been cooked to the same levels of spice, and one bite was enough to set off the alarm bells in my body into sheer panic. While I desperately tried to finish my meal, an effort that would see me suffering for days afterward, my friend—much to the disdain of the chef—happily ate the entire thing.
