The famed author of the Harry Potter series, Joanne Rowling, has been under fire for several years now for her repeated expression of her controversial views. 

As time passes and these views garner more attention it prompts more and more "Potter Heads" to look back on the series with a critical eye. We've seen more and more discussion around the things that aren't so good about the series that might have gone over our heads when we were kids. Among other things that were socially passable in 1997-2007 that you certainly wouldn't get away with now. 

This Tumblr post by a Harry Potter fan revealed what it's like to have the crushing realization and prompted some discussion around the topic when it was subsequently posted to Reddit.
