‘Critical Role’ Are Going On a New Adventure and This Might Be the Perfect Time to Jump In

I'm a big fan of Critical Role… while never actually watching Critical Role. I know, It's weird. I've devoured dozens of TikToks, short clips, and compilations (Perhaps because I have a deep admiration for Matt Mercer's voice acting wizardry and Perhaps because I have a small, manageable crush on Ashly Johnson), but I've never actually committed to sitting down and watching one of their full campaigns. Maybe it's the sheer volume—hundreds of hours across multiple campaigns? It's intimidating.

But that might be about to change.

Critical Role just announced their new limited series Wildemount Wildlings, and it sounds like the perfect gateway for people like me: Critter-curious but time-poor. It's set at a D&D-style summer camp, features familiar faces like Brennan Lee Mulligan and Marisha Ray, and it's only three episodes long. That's not even a full binge—it's a long afternoon.

GM Sam Riegel promises lighthearted chaos and adult humor, and honestly, I'm sold. This is finally the approachable, low-commitment entry into the world of Exandria I've been waiting for. If it hooks me, who knows—I might actually dive into one of the massive campaigns. (Maybe. Probably not. But maybe.)
